Understand that if you're used to using Final Cut or Adobe Premiere, they are utilizing your CPU to playback footage, while Resolve uses your GPU. I have a 2013 MacBook Pro and it can't come close to playing back 4K footage. But it's good to know I wasn't necessarily just doing something wrong with the settings on my end. I'll just have to shoot on the highest quality ProRes that it can handle until I can build my new editing rig. BRAW files? Any input would be much appreciated.Įdit: Thank you all for your help! The playback is slightly better but sill insanely laggy. Once I drop the optimized clips into the timeline I still have no luck. Right click clips and "generate optimized media."
Make sure "Use optimized media" is checked under the playback menu. The weird thing is that I think I've done everything I'm supposed to do. The problem is that I'd really like to shoot my projects in 4K but obviously my laptop is completely incapable of playing back these files, much less editing with them. So I have a BMPCC 4K and when shooting in ProRes I generally have no problems playing back and editing the files on my 2012 MacBook Pro (I plan on building a much more capable PC editing rig once this whole pandemic disaster is over and I'm no longer penny-pinching). And I've done plenty of research to no avail before coming here. Compared to most of you, I've very much a noob. First of all, please don't jump down my throat here.
